TO CONTACT STEVE AND CENTRAL PHOTOGRAPHIC:
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHERSteven Donahue has been a professional photographer since 1965, working in all fields of photography. After graduating from a small arts school in Chicago, he worked for a commercial photographer whose major client was McCalls Magazine. He later worked for two custom photo labs that offered high end printing for advertising agencies. Steve was drafted into the Army in 1967 where he photographed crime scenes for the Military Police. After serving in the Army, Steven lived, worked, and showed his own photographs in Chicago and Michigan. He has lived and worked in New Mexico since 1979. Since 1985, his business, Central Photographic Service, has offered custom black & white lab service to a varied clientele, including professional photographers and the Albuquerque Museums photo archives and photo studio portraiture and commercial work. The studio is now used for creating many of the goddess photos that are on this web site. Steven teaches darkroom printing through Continuing Education at the University of New Mexico and mentors high school students interested in photography. As of March 2008, Central Photographic Service has incorporated a Co-op, in which a group of photographers have used the space for shooting, printing and displaying their work in new space located at 4312 Lomas Ave. NE in Albuquerque NM. The new space is called Central Photo Co-op and Selective Focus Gallery. Steve is the director of the group and will be having different members of the group, including himself, teaching classes on many different photo-related subjects. In January of 2009, there will be many small beginners' classes on how to use your camera (both digital and film), pinhole classes and beginning darkroom classes. There will be a posting at camera stores, and art shops as well as the co-op website, selectivefocusgallery.com. Steve still has his photo service in which he does black & white printing and shooting for portraits and commercial jobs as well as digital shooting in color. |
